Knowing the right charger for your vehicle is a must so you can maximize your vehicle's performance and range, and we're here to guide you through the various options.

EV and Hybrid Charging Station Options

You can find three options when charging plug-in hybrid vehicles and EVs. These will work for your Kia vehicle and all makes and brands, and you can find options that can be installed at home or in public.

Level 1: Standard Wall Outlet (120-Volt)

These chargers generally come with plug-in hybrid vehicles and can replenish the limited EV range overnight due to the smaller battery packs on plug-in hybrid vehicles. They can recharge fully electric vehicles, but it will take the most time.

Level 2: 240-Volt Outlets

You can get a professional electrician to visit your home and install a 240-volt outlet or full electric charging station for quality speeds up charging time, as you can get a full charge overnight. These Level 2 stations are also available in public areas like shopping centers, rest stops, and other points around the Austin area; we're sure you can find one to give your vehicle battery some boost in charge when out to the store, at a restaurant or taking in a show or game. These work well for EVs and plug-in hybrid vehicles

Level 3: DC Fast Charging

A public charging option, DC Fast Charging gives you the quickest charging times, as many are estimated to go from 10 percent to 80 percent charged in an hour or less, depending on the EV you drive. It's a great way to make sure you've maximized charging in the shortest window, and you can find options at rest areas and across Austin to quickly charge up your Kia EV.

EV and Plug-In Hybrid Charging FAQs

How fast does it take to charge an EV?

The time will depend on the charger you use. It's recommended to use a Level 2 charger and up, with Level 2 chargers able to charge fully overnight and Level 3 chargers able to charge you up to 80 percent in under an hour in most cases.

How much does it cost to use a charging station?

If you own a plug-in hybrid that can be charged using a Level 1 charger, this comes with your vehicle and can be plugged into a standard outlet, and the only cost will be the electricity used to charge. Similarly, after the installation fee for a Level 2 charger, your only costs are based on how much you use at home. With public Level 2 and Level 3 charging stations you're charged by the kilowatt in most cases, which ranges from 40 to 60 cents per kWh.
